Urthema String Quartet
Formed in 2006 the Urthema String Quartet has performed in and around the Twin Cities Metro area in numerous settings. Comprised of recent graduates from St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN the ensemble gives one recital each year and has performed at St. Olaf College, St. John’s Episcopal Church in Minneapolis as well as other non-traditional venues such as the University Theater, near the University of MN Twin Cities campus.
Based on a belief that the traditional repertoire of the string quartet should not be limited to that of western classical music. The mission of Urthema is to provide it’s audience with classical and not so classical repertoire including jazz, popular, and a variety of other musical genres not commonly performed in the string quartet setting.
